All Dad wants for Father’s Day is to spend time with you but getting creative year after year can be a difficult task at hand. We decided to help out and put together a list of unique and creative ideas for every type of Dad. Bonding with the Pops just got a lot more fun.
The Nostalgic Dad: He’s the Dad that will make sure that you and all your friends know all about his adventures when he was young and “back in my days” is his favourite start line. He is always reminding you of your good times & your most embarrassing ones of when you were young. He holds on to the past and cherishes memories with you.
Celebrate with him:
Turn your backyard into a campsite it’s bonding at its best. Pitch a tent, start a campfire, swap memories and melt those marshmallows. This is a great idea for the whole family to get involved.
The Adventure Dad: He probably doesn’t have a plan and always winging it but acts like everything is under control. YOLO is probably in his vocab and is always on a mission. His interests constantly change but nonetheless, this guy has seen the world.
Celebrate with him: Take the long road with absolutely no plan, pack a survival kit, some food and an old school map. Get lost, find places and explore. P.S don’t forget the camera, those pics will be worth a thousand words one day.
The Masterchef Dad: This Dad knows his way around the kitchen and always whipping up dishes for the entire family and just you dare not compliment the chef he will definitely fish for admiration. He loves the cooking but hates the cleaning but at least we get to feast.
Celebrate with him: Grill off or cook-off this task will sure have your dad on his toes. Earn the family title of Grillmaster in this family feud game called Braai wars. Compete with Dad for the best blind tasting family lunch. Oh, an be a sport and let him win, it’s fathers day after all.
The Homely Dad: This Dad loves his house, well because everything he loves is at his fingertips. TV, Remote, Sport, Gaming Console, Beer sounds about right. His pass time is couch coaching sports teams and chillaxing in his underpants. Watching his team lose can sure be fun sometimes.
Celebrate with him: A room just for him will make him feel like he won the league. Turn the garage into a Mancave for the day and fill it with all his favourite things. Add the TV, couches & and ring bell for service. Spice it up with sports memorabilia and don’t forget the sign on the door that reads “No nagging wives”.
The Handy-Man Dad: This dad thinks he can fix anything, he will refuse to pay for a professional service but instead he will spend half the day figuring out how to fix it before he can actually fix it. He usually takes care of the maintenance around the house but will probably first drive everyone nuts by involving them in his projects regardless we still enjoy this guy.
Celebrate with him: Build your relationship with a cool idea, you will really have your dad going with a DIY. Start a project together that will create memories for years to come and FYI get everyone involved.
The Car Enthusiast Dad: If he could put his car in a glass box he probably would and is always keeping it in showroom condition. He knows the latest models that are out and having a conversation about cars with him is like listening to the car manual in audio.
Celebrate with him: Hit the towns showrooms together and book test drives on all his favourite cars just for the fun of it. Who knows he might gift himself and buy the car. Oh and act like serious buyers when in front of the sales guy:P
The Active Dad: This guy is usually up at 6 am on a Sunday making a helluva noise before he heads out to cycle, run or do some type of sports activity. He’s probably fitter than you and constantly health checking you.
Celebrate with him: Plan a race around the city whether its cycling or running. Create a route and tour, that should be fun or race up the mountain whatever activity you choose, make sure it’s adrenalin pumping.
